Curzon Cinemas

  • Curzon has reflected the highest standards of international film presentation since opening in 1934 in Mayfair. Today Curzon Cinemas are recognised as London's best, and present an exciting programme of events with the world's leading film-makers, as well as live on-screen opera and theatre from New York's Met Opera, London's National Theatre and many other venues around the world.
  • Curzon Soho opened in 1999, and Renoir, Chelsea and Richmond were integrated in 2006. HMVCurzon, a three-screen cinema in the HMV store in Wimbledon, opened as a joint venture with the retailer in 2009. Further sites are planned for 2011, 2012 and 2013.
  • The Chelsea Cinema became Curzon Chelsea in 2010 after an extensive refurbishment programme. It is the site of William Friese-Green's workshop where he developed the world's first moving camera in 1886 - truly the home of cinema.
  • Our esteemed guests at events in the past few years have included Martin Scorsese, Wim Wenders, Cate Blanchett, Michael Haneke, Danny Glover, Catherine Deneuve, Frank Gehry, Sydney Pollack, Harlan Coben, Harold Pinter, Ken Livingstone, David Cameron, Werner Herzog, Juliette Binoche, Denzel Washington, Ridley Scott, Pedro Almodovar, Penelope Cruz, Michael Nyman, Lou Reed, The Wire Crew (David Simon, Dominic West, Clarke Peters) and Shane Meadows - even Lars von Trier visited via Skype.
  • We have more than 600,000 annual admissions, 7,000 members and 30,000 email subscribers. We print 50,000 copies of each bi-monthly magazine, are visited by 4-6,000 website users a day and host fifteen Film Festivals.
  • Curzon Magazine is the only cinema magazine produced by a UK exhibitor with dedicated editorial content
